Pomegranate’s Twitter-Chat gadget enables real-time engagement for online events such as the June 27th concert by the former Beatle. It aggregates Twitter feeds to create a community experience for fans watching at home, and proved popular during live-streamed concerts from U2 and Alicia Keys in 2009. It has also been used on the YouTube channel of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a cricket tournament with a global following. McCartney’s concert in London’s Hyde Park will support The Global Fund, which fights the spread of AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis around the world. The event is part of the Fund’s “Born HIV Free” campaign, an international push to put an end to children being born with HIV by 2015, spearheaded by France’s first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. "We created the application to bring people together," says Pomegranate CEO Grant Powell. "Now it's especially rewarding to unite them for a good cause. I hope people tune in on June 27th to check out the gadget and support 'Born HIV Free.'" For more information on the concert and “Born HIV Free,” click here.
